Your Guide To Hawaii

If you’ve been following my adventures over the last few years, it’s no secret that Hawaii is one of my favorite places in the world. My husband and I try to visit the islands once a year because they have become our home away from home. I often get asked, “Why return to the same place every year?” The answer is simple. I have never travelled to an island where the nature makes me feel so small. We are greeted by warmth and kindness everywhere we go because “that’s the spirit of Aloha.” The food is infused with fresh, local flavors and there is never a shortage of breathtaking excursions to explore. The energy is different in Hawaii. Some say one of Earth’s chakra points is found there. It completely re-centers and refocuses me—something that everyone, especially New Yorkers stuck in the concrete jungle, can benefit from. When planning your trips to Hawaii, I highly recommend visiting Maui and Kauai. Oahu is fun, but it feels more like a big city, so I prefer to get …

Hawaii: Part 2 – Kauai

After a few days in Maui, it was time to escape to our other favorite island, Kauai. Kauai is one of the most secluded islands of Hawaii and is nicknamed “The Garden Isle,” due to the untouched tropical rainforest making up most of the land. This is the location where Jurassic Park was filmed so you can imagine how lush and green this island is. Dramatic cliffs, hidden waterfalls, and overgrown trees fill the (sometimes unfinished) streets of Kauai creating the feeling of being lost in nature – something refreshing coming from the concrete jungle of New York City.We checked into one of my all-time favorite hotels in the world: The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. The moment you walk into this hotel, a picture-perfect view of palm trees and ocean greets you. Most of this hotel is built with open courtyards as the outdoor concept of the resort makes their guests always feel connected to the nature surrounding them. The hotel’s pools are exquisite. A lazy river takes you from the top of …

Hawaii: Part 1 – Maui

It’s hard to put into words why I love Hawaii so much. Hawaii isn’t just another tropical paradise. It is an enchanting oasis where mountains meet ocean, a place in which nature makes you feel so incredibly small. You become one with the water, the land, and the people. The first chapter of our trip began in Maui where we stayed at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club. We checked into a beautiful one-bedroom villa with views overlooking the ocean. The villa had a full kitchen (perfect for stocking up on local favorites like a peanut butter coconut spread and macadamia nut chocolate), a private balcony and a washer and dryer, which came in handy after a few nature excursions! The resort itself has an open-air concept that allowed the fresh air and beauty of Maui to always surround us. The multiple pools were relaxing and grand, built through grottos and stone waterfalls just feet away from the beach. But what I really loved about this hotel was the location. We stayed in the heart of the …
