Summers Down The Shore

I’m about to let you in on a little secret that might surprise you: the television show, The Jersey Shore is not an accurate representation of what life is like in the beach towns of New Jersey. Sure, the particular area that the show was filmed in does lives up to some of the things that were portrayed there, but outside of the tiny town that people identify the show with is a hidden oasis of picturesque beach communities.Lavallette is a tiny, quaint beach town I grew up spending my summers in. On one side of the island is the ocean and on the opposite side is the bay. Beach shops and boutiques line the streets and home made ice cream is available on every other block. There are staple restaurants like the Crabs Claw that you can roll into after a day on the beach wearing a tank top and swim trunks, snack on coconut shrimp, and dance to live cover bands belting out hits from Bon Jovi and Journey all night long. The …

Swimwear Season

The swimwear season is quickly approaching and, while it’s easy to fall into the pattern of wearing the same bathing suits year after year, I challenge you to upgrade them. Below are my four tips for choosing the right swimwear that will keep you looking current, trendy and well-styled for all of your warm weather escapes:1. Above The Knee Is In It is time to look at swimwear in a completely different way. Toss aside your below the knee bathing suits and choose trunks that rests slightly above the knees, or even a little shorter if you’re feeling more adventurous. Long swimsuits often look sloppy, doing nothing to accentuate your silhouette and can often make you appear wider than you actually are. A shorter, fitted swimsuit gives you a cleaner look and will elevate your swimsuit game.2. Highlighter Colors Are Your Friend Nothing accentuates a nice golden tan like a pop of color. You should wear highlighter colors all spring and summer (or any season in a tropical location). There’s no better opportunity to do …

La Concha Resort

With winter dragging on for what feels like an eternity, I decided it’s time for a tropical escape. Puerto Rico is a destination that has been on my radar for quite some time. The weather is bright and beautiful, the ocean is turquoise blue, and the flight is less than four hours from New York, making it an easy weekend getaway. We jumped on a plane after work and arrived at the stunning La Concha Resort in San Juan just after midnight. I was in awe as we walked into an oceanfront suite decorated with heart shaped balloons, dozens of red roses, and a bottle of wine surrounded by rose petals. The staff did their research and discovered it is almost our one-year wedding anniversary, so they created a special surprise for us to walk into! After having a glass of wine on the balcony while listening to the sounds of the waves crashing underneath us, it was time to get some rest for a weekend of exploration. We started the day at Delicias with our usual egg …

Hawaii: Part 2 – Kauai

After a few days in Maui, it was time to escape to our other favorite island, Kauai. Kauai is one of the most secluded islands of Hawaii and is nicknamed “The Garden Isle,” due to the untouched tropical rainforest making up most of the land. This is the location where Jurassic Park was filmed so you can imagine how lush and green this island is. Dramatic cliffs, hidden waterfalls, and overgrown trees fill the (sometimes unfinished) streets of Kauai creating the feeling of being lost in nature – something refreshing coming from the concrete jungle of New York City.We checked into one of my all-time favorite hotels in the world: The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. The moment you walk into this hotel, a picture-perfect view of palm trees and ocean greets you. Most of this hotel is built with open courtyards as the outdoor concept of the resort makes their guests always feel connected to the nature surrounding them. The hotel’s pools are exquisite. A lazy river takes you from the top of …

Hawaii: Part 1 – Maui

It’s hard to put into words why I love Hawaii so much. Hawaii isn’t just another tropical paradise. It is an enchanting oasis where mountains meet ocean, a place in which nature makes you feel so incredibly small. You become one with the water, the land, and the people. The first chapter of our trip began in Maui where we stayed at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club. We checked into a beautiful one-bedroom villa with views overlooking the ocean. The villa had a full kitchen (perfect for stocking up on local favorites like a peanut butter coconut spread and macadamia nut chocolate), a private balcony and a washer and dryer, which came in handy after a few nature excursions! The resort itself has an open-air concept that allowed the fresh air and beauty of Maui to always surround us. The multiple pools were relaxing and grand, built through grottos and stone waterfalls just feet away from the beach. But what I really loved about this hotel was the location. We stayed in the heart of the …

Beach DAYS IN C-IN 2

With so many different types of bathing suits out there, it can be quite confusing to figure out what the best type for your body is. After trying out several brands, fits and styles, I realized that bathing suits such as this one from C-IN2 feel great for me. I prefer a suit that sits above the knee, hitting mid-thigh because they are very light and comfortable to wear. I hate the feeling of a soggy wet bathing suit weighing me down so this length prevents that from happening! Most importantly, most of these trunks don’t have an elastic waist band which I find incredibly suffocating. Instead they come with a flat front which rests comfortably on the waist line. I also love a bright color on the beach as it feels summery and compliment the tan you’ve worked so hard to get.?

East Hampton

I’ve grown up going down to my family’s beach house summer after summer at the Jersey Shore but today decided to check out the beaches in Manhattan’s backyard: The Hamptons.  East Hampton was stunning. The beaches were miles long full of white powdered sand and the water was crystal clear. The town was full of unique and quaint shops and the restaurants were delicious! For breakfast we stumbled upon this mom and pop restaurant that served the best smoked salmon omelette I have had in my life (and home grown teas…#heaven). After a day soaking in the rays of the sun, we found a great seafood restaurant and maybe loved the coconut shrimp spring rolls so much that two orders were ordered. ? Walking to the second restaurant, we came face to face with a beautiful windmill in original condition from the 1800s. Every piece of the wind mill was hand carved and we climbed the three stories of the old tower to see the architecture of the top. It’s amazing to see how people …

camo crush

I can’t get enough of this blue camouflage bathing suit by 2xist! The mid-thigh length of the swim trunk falls at the perfect spot and is equipped with multiple pockets to store all your shells and seaglass in that you find from your walks on the beach. ? Camo also offers the perfect punch to your neutral bathing suit collection and it seems to be a trend season after season that just keeps coming back for more. It’s just the right amount of daring and fashion-forward while still having a familiar appeal. Enjoy the rest of your summer weekends and get in as much beach time as possible! ?? *Buy the bathing suit here on sale now!

Beach Escape

I have grown up going down to my family’s shore house every Fourth of July and it has become a tradition I look forward to every year. From delicious meals (with some refreshing cocktails, dancing and live music), to jumping on rides at the Seaside Heights Boardwalk, to laying out and finding some time for total r&r on the beach, this will go down as one of the best Fourth of Julys yet. Here are some of my favorite moments from the trip. Much love and hope everyone had an amazing Fourth! 🇺🇸👌🏻
