Road tripping

Sometimes the best adventures are hopping in a car and seeing where the road takes you. This weekend’s road trip around New England was a beautiful one. That part of the country is stunning, surrounded by plush green forests and never ending mountain ranges. The road trip kicked off with a stop in Salem, Massachusetts to learn about the witch trials from the late 1600’s. The town definitely has an overall haunted feel to it!  After learning about the origins of witchcraft and being chased around a haunted house with a man holding a chainsaw (in which a mixture of laughter and terrifying yelling occurred), we checked out one of the oldest standing houses in the village. It blows my mind that people used to cook in gigantic stone fireplaces and that is what was considered their kitchen! It was also exciting to check out some locations from the film Hocus Pocus, one of my all-time favorite movies growing up. The building pictured below was from the famous scene in the film where Bette Midler sings, “I Put A Spell On You,” at the dance party…too cool!We then hopped back in the car and drove through Connecticut to check out a beautiful marina and restaurant in Saybrook. The sun set on the water as we threw back a delicious glass of Italian prosecco and enjoyed fresh seafood caught right from the marina. It was time to get back on the road and return to New York City before waking up early and heading out on Sunday to a friend’s place in the Hamptons. There are a few more weekends left to enjoy the summer so grab your swimsuits, best friends/family and cocktails and enjoy the final weekends of the sunshine season.
